LIFE-RII european project

LIFE RII participates at the “Platform meeting” in Manchester (UK)

The LIFE RII project will be presented at the international meeting next 2016, 24-25 may

A Water Platform Meeting, entitled ‘WATER WORKS – overcoming challenges to achieving good water status in urban areas’ will be held at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester on 24-25 May 2016.

The meeting follows the publication by the European Commission in 2012 of its strategic document, A Blueprint to Safeguard Europe’s Water Resources, which targets obstacles hampering action in this area. The report emphasised the need to improve land use, address water pollution, increase water efficiency and resilience, and improve governance of water resource management.

The LIFE RII Project will also participate at meeting, where it will be presented as a good management practice in highly urbanized areas.

The event will moreover include workshop sessions and visits to locations in Manchester and surrounding areas to see some practical solutions in action. Furthermore, the common solutions and practices raised in the workshop sessions will be transmitted to the water policy unit in the Commission’s Directorate-General for the Environment.
