LIFE Eremita volunteers
The field trips continue in the context of the training course for the volunteers of the LIFE Eremita project, year 2020! The group of volunteers includes young and old, students, nature enthusiasts but also VEG (Voluntary Ecological Guards) from all over the Emilia-Romagna region!
The first outing took place on September 26th, at the Macroarea of the Romagna Apennines. Walking through ponds and canals, the group was able to observe two of the four target species of the project, the interventions implemented in aquatic environments, and became aware of the monitoring activities to be carried out once the training is completed.
During the field activity on September 27th in the Casentinesi Forest National Park, the visit to the ex-situ and in-situ Osmoderma eremita farms was organised and the forestry interventions implemented in the sites were examined.
The third outing took place in the National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines on October 18th. The group, now close-knit, visited one of the intervention sites of the target species Rosalia alpina.
The activities in the field and the theoretical lessons, which took place in the previous weeks, are essential to better understand the actions and interventions carried out during the project, the need for continuous monitoring to know about the presence and distribution of the species, and the conditions of their forest and aquatic habitats. The acquisition of these skills by the VOLUNTEERS and their support will be essential to operate, together with technicians and entomologists, in protected areas ... even in the POST-LIFE period!
Thank you to them!
