Lifeel partnership

An introduction to the project partners

Lifeel partnership is a high-level one, in terms both of institutional and scientific participation.

They share a common macro-objective: to foster and promote the biodiversity heritage of the European rivers through the conservation and restoration of the European eel (Anguilla anguilla), now at stake because of the anthropic pressures which hinder the eels' migratory routes, interfering severely with the species-specific reproductive behaviours.

Partners come from the basin of the Po River, in Italy, and from the basin of the Nesto River and lagoons, in Northern Greece. They bring to the project both institutional strenght and high-level research competences.

Lead Partner: Regione Lombardia, Direzione Generale Agricoltura, Alimentazione e Sistemi verdi

Institutional Partners: Regione Emilia-Romagna, Direzione Generale Agricoltura, Caccia e Pesca, Ente Parco del Ticino, Ente Parco Delta del Po Emilia-Romagna, Ente Parco Delta del Po Veneto, Demeter, Research Institute on Fisheries of the Hellenic Ministry for rural development and food

Technical Partner: G.R.A.I.A. S.r.l.

Research Partners: Università di Bologna, Università di Ferrara

The project raised the interest of several private investors, which did contribute financially to the success of the project actions: Enel Green Power, Fondazione CaRipLo, TiU Canton Ticino and  Associazione Italiana Pesca Sportiva e Ricreativa.
