Release in nature of eels by the University of Bologna researchers

One of the key project actions was implemented on November along the Comacchio shore

On Wednesday, 10th of November 2021, researchers from University of Bologna involved in the Lifeel project released several adult breeders of Anguilla anguilla in the watershed of the Comacchio Valleys, to contribute to the ripristination of the stock of European eel in the Po river basin in the framework of the Lifeel project.

The researchers did proceed following a shared protocol, which foresees a selection procedure (through the measurement of the individuals more apt to become breeders); after tagging them with a green tag bearing an identification number, the selected individuals were set free.

A telephone number is available to report sightings of the tagged individuals. See here the information about how to report in case of sighting.
