Adri.Smartfish, the kick-off event.
On April 16th, 2019, the Regione del Veneto hosted the kick-off meeting for the cross-border project Adri.Smartfish, as a Lead Partner of the implementing team. During that event, held in the Cà Foscari (University of Venice) premises, all the partners’ representatives spoke in the presence of the Veneto’s Regional Minister for Agriculture, Hunting and Fisheries Gianluca Fregolent.
The partners introduced the attendance about the project initiatives and activities; among them, the General Director of the Agro-environment Directorate of Veneto Region, the scientific delegate of the Cà Foscari University and the delegate for IZOR, the Split Oceanographic Institute.
Partners in the Adri.Smartfish project – whose budget is about 3 millions euro, the Northern Adriatic coastal Regions (Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia e Marche for Italy, Istra, Primorsko-Goranska and Dalmatia Counties together with the Croatian Ministry for Agriculture representing the balkanic coastal line).
Mr Fregolent said: “Small-scale fisheries are our blue gold, a resource to be protected and promoted, because it brings together history, traditions, prosperity and occupation. The development of this kind of fisheries techniques will assure a better protection also for the marine and coastal environment, and a coordination between ports and maritime communities for a better and more sustainable fishery-based local economy with a perspective of more respectful tourism. Only by sharing an integrated approach among the institutions from all the Northern Adriatic territories it will be made possible to innovate on the local small-scale tradition and to promote at the same time better occupation rates and a sustainable fishery value chain”.
