LIFE+ Climate changE-R

Actions

Most of the actions involve intensive farming that is representative of Emilia-Romagna, and these actions can be replicated and shared in other territories of the European Union.

Collection of technical data needed to estimate the production of GHG emissions in the agricultural systems of Emilia-Romagna (data already available on partners and data collected within the project companies representative of the regional productive system).

Their organisation in a project reference Database (available for both public bodies that study and monitor environmental impact, and individuals who wish to analyse LCA in their own production in the region or areas with similar characteristics).

Setting up a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology for calculating the carbon footprint (from the cradle to the farm gate) that is tailored to the main agricultural systems and products of the Emilia Romagna region.

Data calculation of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and the relative carbon footprint for the different agricultural production systems in the Emilia-Romagna region and for different levels of environmental care (for plant life, de facto regulations for integrated production will be developed, while for livestock farms, work will be carried out on different levels to improve accuracy in feed management and waste).

Identification of Best Practices related to the reduction of GHG emissions. The Best Practices will take into account and develop the already consolidated experience in integrated production standards and the results of other projects in the fields of livestock, plant life and other LIFE projects.

Assessment of Best Practices arising from activities carried out at the demonstration farms, including the economic assessment of the Best

Practices proposed.

Economic assesment of the proposed Best Practices, to measure costs and benefits in farm management, especially in view of their introduction into regional programming and their application in supply chain relationships.

Dissemination and promotion of Best Practices developed to reduce GHG emissions for farmers, industry professionals, students of technical schools and universities, but also consumers.
