DEAR projects working on migration and the Shaping Fair Cites Project

DEAR projects working on migration address why migration happens, as well as how European communities are affected.

The Development Education and Awareness Raising programme brings fundamental values shared by all members of the EU into our daily lives.

DEAR projects working on migration address why migration happens, as well as how European communities are affected.

With the SDGs, migration has for the first time been inserted into mainstream development policy:

(i) The situation of migrant workers is highlighted in SDG 8 on economic growth and decent work

(ii) the issue of trafficking is mentioned in several SDGs for instance SDG 16 on peaceful societies

(iii) migration status is mentioned specifically as a factor for disaggregation during the follow-up and review in SDG 17. Among all targets, SDG target 10.7 is the centre-piece for migration in the 2030 Agenda. It calls for “well-managed migration policies”, and hence encompasses all aspects of migration.

Our Shaping Fair Cities Project treats migration issues as transversal themes, and migrants as specific targets, involved in all project activities (communication actions, trainings initiatives, digital tools, etc.) related to all other SDGs at the centre of our project.
