MD.net: European project on Mediterranean Diet
The project, promoted by 13 European partners including the Emilia-Romagna regional Government aims at strengthening the Mediterranean Diet as set by the Mediterranean Diet European Convention of UNESCO.
The main principles of the Convention provide for a better innovation capacity, models and techniques of local communities and of the entire chain in order to face international competitiveness thus making the sector more attractive to young businesses.
A better “enhancement policy”, in particular as referred to distribution, trading and marketing, will strengthen the identity of the Mediterranean Diet through the offer of additional network and high-tech products and services which involve local communities.
Local communities will be able to add value, on the touristic level as well, to the cultural identity heritage of peoples of the Mediterranean Basin based on landscapes, crops, agricultural techniques, markets, environments and craftsmanship, culinary innovations and traditions.
The MD.net has been officially presented for the first time during the Rimini Macfrut Fair that took place from 8th to 10th May 2019.
On June 11th and 12th, 2019, the 13th project partners met in Mostar, the agenda of the meeting entailed the kick off of pilot projects among the involved regions.
On June 12th, 2019, stakeholders took part to the international seminar on “Mediterranean Diet & Creative Industries” which dealt with the Unesco world- recognised heritage for the intangible culture and its potential for an active and creative sustainable growth.
