Mediterranean Diet is not just healthy food, it’s also a matter of lifestyles. Conviviality, culture, tradition and local customs are distinctive features of all countries of the Mediterranean.
End of the first step of the project
The first step of the project, which was based on the analysis of type of products, traditional recipes landscapes, cultural environments and best practice was completed.
It also took into account the Mediterranean diet market challenges as far as economic, environment and socio-economical factors.
Great consideration was given to policies in the field of agriculture, tourism and trade as well as to the identification of potential key players that will take part to a new network chosen among the 4 main stakeholders: public administration, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s), universities and research centres and citizens at a local level and among Project partners.
The aim of the network is the creation of pilot projects.
Mediterranean diet criteria as set by Unesco together with new ones will be used for the definition of methodological procedures connected to the MD branding that will be acknowledged to economic operators who will undertake to apply the principles and values of the Mediterranean Diet.
Next steps are the MD.net website within the new portal ProgEU dedicated to European as well as International projects and the scheduling of stakeholders’ meetings.
