Conference organized by CIRF in October 2018
As part of the networking activities of the European project LIFE RINASCE, the Italian Center for River Restoration (CIRF), the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Central Emilia Reclamation Consortium organize a real "river restoration week" in Bologna from 22nd to 26th October 2018.
The event is aimed at public bodies, professionals in the sector, the world of scientific research, associations and economic operators that are involved in, to compare the most important issues in Italy and show the most significant experiences in relation to the improvement of the ecological status of watercourses and more generally to the sustainability of hydrological basin scale planning and management.
The conference entitled "Between climate change and soil consumption: river restoration for a new territorial balance" will be divided into several specific themes:
- Integrated programs and interventions: river restoration, flood risk reduction and adaptation to climate change through the protection and restoration of river space and hydromorphological dynamics
- Conservation and recovery of the biodiversity of river corridors
- Towards a circular economy: assessment of ecosystem services of river corridors and analysis of financial mechanisms for their redevelopment
- The restoration of river basins for the rebalancing of the hydro-morphological regime: soil protection, natural water retention, Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS)
- Sustainable management of water resources between respect for ecological drainage and qualitative water protection
- Monitoring before and after operations of river restoration
- Processes including the active involvement of local communities in the management of river corridors and in the use of their resources
Were also activated procedures for the recognition of training credits for engineers, agronomists / foresters, architects, geologists and biologists.
