Consortium of Parmigiano-Reggiano

The Consortium of Formaggio Parmigiano Reggiano  brings together all the dairy producers and is not for profit. Its tasks are:

• verify that the production regulations are adhered to

• protect the Parmigiano Reggiano brand from imitations

• promote and spread the awareness and consumption of Parmigiano Reggiano

• refine and improve the quality of Parmigiano Reggiano in order to preserve its uniqueness and special characteristics.

Other tasks of the Consortium are:

• place the brand names and labels on the Parmigiano Reggiano cheeses as a distinctive sign of compliance with the Regulations of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) certified by the inspection.

• supervise the production and marketing of the product. To perform this function, entrusted to it by law, the Consortium uses its own Public Safety agents.

The consortium is a participant of the project Climate ChangE- R, and co-finances actions carried out by CRPA within the project.
