ARGOS: collaboration actions for the sustainability of fisheries and aquaculture in the Adriatic Sea
ARGOS main objectives
The main purpose of ARGOS is the promotion and dissemination of a shared and integrated approach to the protection of marine resources in the Adriatic Sea basin, through the enhancement of institutional collaboration activities and other actions for mitigation of the direct and indirect environmental impacts of fisheries and aquaculture.
Between the main objectives, ARGOS focuses on the creation of a common regulatory framework for the management of the fisheries and aquaculture in the area, the promotion of networks among local stakeholders, the integration of the existing databases and improve the quality in programs at a local and regional level, with the view to create a functional cooperation framework, better training for blue skills and blue careers.
More about the project
The official start of ARGOS was set on the first of April 2020, with a deadline on the 31st of December 2022. The project, classed among the strategic ones, is co-funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia CBC Programme.
The total amount of the project is 5.725.144 euros, of which 4.866.381 euros from the Interreg funding stream and the remaining 858.763 euros coming from national rotation funding. For the Emilia-Romagna Region a total of 439.665 euros has been allotted, of which 373.715,25 Euros on the ERDF Fund and the remaining 65.949,75 on the national rotation fund.
Meet the project partners!
The Lead Partner of ARGOS will be the Italian Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region. Beside of Emilia-Romagna, which will play a crucial role in the Communication Package as a Project Partner, the project involves also Regione del Veneto, Regione Marche, Regione Molise, Regione Puglia, Županjia Istarska, Županija Primorsko-goranska, Županija Zadarska, Županija Sibenik-Knin, Županija dubrovačko neretvanska as institutional Project Partners. Other Partners will include CNR-IRBIM (Italian National Research Center), the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (as Associate Partner), the Croatian Development Agency of the Sibenik-Knin County, RERA, the Development Agency for the Županija dalmatinska, IOF, Croatian Institute for Oceanography and Fisheries in Split and the Croatian Ministry for Agriculture (as Associate Partner).
